Genus of 20 to 25 species of deciduous trees and shrubs.
Latin name: Amelanchier laevis
They grow in full sun and part shade, in moist but well-drained, neutral or acid soils.
Propagated by seeds that require cold-moist stratification, or by semi-hardwood cuttings.
Big, deciduous shrub with a reverse cone shape. It bears white flowers in spring, before the unfolding of the leaves. New leaves are green and tinged with red.
