Genus of evergreen or deciduous climbing plants with very thin stems, and herbaceous perennials. They feature green leaves and intense flowering in late spring and summer.
Latin name: Clematis cirrhosa "Balearica"
They grow in humus-rich, moderately moist soils, in full sun. The surface of the ground above the rhizome must never be dry, so it is a good idea to plant a low-growing shrub in front of the clematis or to place slates to keep the ground moist and shaded. The rhizome should be protected by vegetal mulch (e.g straw) in winter. Plant the rhizome at a depth of 10 to 30 cm (4-12 inches). Cut to the ground for a more intense growth.
Train on fences and trellises.
Propagated by semi-hardwood grafting in summer.
Evergreen plant with white flowers in winter and early spring.
