Genus of 60 species of deciduous shrubs (though there are 2 or 3 evergreen species), most of which are native to China. They bear usually white flowers, fragrant in most cases, from mid-spring to early summer.
Plant in full sun and in moderately moist, well-drained soils. Prune hardly after flowering to stimulate a rich flowering the following year.
Plant in goups, in free hedges and in flowerpots.
Easily propagated by cuttings.

Shrub with double white flowers. Outer petals are fuchsia-coloured on the outside.
