Genus of about 20 species of bulbous plants, the first to flower in late winter. They feature single, pendulous, white flowers with three large and three small petals speckled with green and elongated, narrow green leaves. The genus name is derived from Greek "gala" meaning milk and "anthos" meaning flower.
Latin name: Galanthus "Atkinsii"
They grow in partial shade, in fertile, moist but well-drained soils.
Propagated by bulblets.
Glaucous-green leaves on the inside surface. Each inner petal features a green, heart-shaped blotch.
