Hippeastrum "Picotee"

Amaryllis

0,8 m. 2,62 f.
Family: Liliaceae

Genus: Hippeastrum

Genus of bulbous plants with oblong, leathery, green leaves. Its native range extends from Mexico to Tierra del Fuego. Big, funnel-shaped flowers are borne in clusters of 4 to 6 on erect, leafless stems.
Plant the bulbs in autumn, in sunny or partly shaded sites and in well-drained soils.
Water regularly from the unfolding of the leaves to their dying out, and then leave dry.
In areas of intense frost action, the plants should be covered with a protective vegetal layer (e.g straw) in winter.
Propagated by bulblets.
