Genus containing only 2 species of rhizomatous plants that feature green leaves and flowers in a spadix surrounded by a spathe. The genus takes its name from the Greek "lysi"meaning dissolving and "chiton" meaning tunic. Chiton refers to the armour-like spathe enclosing the inflorescene.

Grow in full sun or partial shade, in moist soils.
Plant near rivers and pools.
Propagated by division.
No disease problems.
Yellow flowers in early spring.
