Genus of more than 150 species of annual plants, perennial herbs or evergreen shrubs. Their name derives from the Greek word for mime "mimos".
Grow in moist, humus-rich soils, in full sun or partial shade.
Annual plants propagate by seeds that germinate at 20 °C (68°F). Propagate perennials by division and shrubs by semi-woody cuttings in autumn.
