Genus of 2 species of perennial plants, native to New Zealand. They feature evergreen, oblong, v-shaped leaves that grow from the ground and reach up to more than 2 meters high.
Latin name: Phormium tenax "Purpureum"
They grow in full sun, in well-drained, fertile soils.
Plant in groups, in rock gardens and flowerpots.
Propagated by division.
Variety with bronze-tinged leaves.
