Genus of 180 to 200 species of ferns with a cosmopolitan distribution. Most of the species are native to China, Africa, Europe and North America. Polystichum ferns feature rich, evergreen, compound foliage, for which they are cultivated.
Latin name: Polystichum setiferum "Cristatogracile"
They grow in humus-rich, neutral or acid soils, in part and deep shade and have high requirements in water.
Plant in partly shaded sites, in rock gardens for ground covering and in flowerpots.
Propagated by division in autumn and winter.
Light green, bipinnately compound leaves.
